Cross Over Status Update

The 2021 legislative session has reached a critical milestone and all five priority bills for the Transit Caucus have passed one chamber.

March 22 was cross over, the date by which legislation needs to pass one chamber in order to continue on the normal legislative process.

Here’s a status update on the Caucus’ priority bills:

  • P3 Oversight and Reform Act: HB 485 passed the House; SB 361 is in the Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee.

  • Transit Safety and Investment Act: HB 114 passed the House; SB 199 was approved by the Budget and Tax Committe.

  • Zero Emission Bus Transition Act (HB 334/SB 137): Language was amended into the Climate Solutions Act (SB 414), which passed the Senate.

  • Southern Maryland Rapid Transit Project: HB 414 passed the House. SB 81 is in the Budget and Tax Committee.

  • Western Maryland MARC Expansion Study (SB 869): Language was amended into the Transit Safety and Investment Act (SB 199) and approved by the Budget and Tax Committee.
